What kind of LEGACY are we leaving our children health-wise?
And how has 15 years of GOVERNMENT focused efforts impacted obesity rates?
It is very obvious that people are awakened and motivated to make lifestyle changes in many different ways. Some like to see proof in before/after pictures. Others want to learn the science. Some folks get stirred into action after getting a concerning diagnosis by their doctor. Then there are those who pay attention to statistics and trends. Numbers grab their attention. That is what we are sharing in this piece.
ALL obesity and the way it affects ALL people is concerning to ALL of us who work daily to impact this serious health epidemic. Perhaps the most concerning of the current obesity stats and trends are those related to American children. Ever wonder how your state stacks up?
Well, there’s a simple way to do that. We found some information on a website called “The Sate of Obesity: Better Policies for Healthier America” that really grabbed our attention. The website is www.stateofobesity.com and it has studies and resources designed to simply and clearly outline obesity related facts. When it comes to children and obesity you can quickly learn about your own state’s status. Click on this link: https://stateofobesity.org/children1017/
When you do, it will look like this:
Then, click on your state to see where your state ranks. When you do this, you will likely be impacted by the numbers. It’s really sad to see the direction our country is moving. And it’s disturbing to think about the individual children who are staring a difficult, emotional frustrating and un-healthy future right in the face. The trends are simply not in their favor. An October 2017 article on CNN.com* made these statements:
- The United States will not be escaping the obesity epidemic crisis
anytime soon: Nearly 40% of adults and 19% of youth are obese, the
highest rate the country has ever seen in all adults, according
to research released Friday by the National Center for Health
- What is "very striking" about this information is that there has been
a 30% increase in adult obesity and 33% increase in youth obesity
from 1999-2000 data to 2015-16, despite government-focused efforts to
address the issue, according to Michael W. Long, assistant professor
at the Milken Institute of School Public Health at George Washington
At some point, a person who wants (or needs) to get serious about weight loss for themselves (or who is concerned about their children’s health, well-being and future!) must wake up. You have to choose and commit to a focused lifestyle change. It seems most sensible to pick one which has repeatedly proven successful, involves science and has a stellar support model built into it. That’s exactly what the program we use is good for. It’s called The Lifetime Metabolic Weight Loss Program.
We refuse to be a part of the unfortunate trends and we are committed to helping others NOT be! If you are awakened, motivated and ready to create a different future for you and/or your children simply click, call or just come in today. Learn more. And let’s get to work!
